LOCATION: Prairie Region - Clinc Services
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assists in setting up and dismantling of equipment and supplies, as well as loading and unloading activities.
-Performs confidential health assessments of each donor to ensure standard Canadian Blood Services donor selection criteria are met.
-Performs venepuncture, and apheresis donor collections according to established Canadian Blood Services standards.
-Monitors safety, comfort and status of donor during collection procedures.
-Ensures all required documentation for donors, product, and collection materials is accurate and complete according to Canadian Blood Services standards.
-Maintains and promotes good relations and communication, projecting a positive image and professional attitude, with staff, donors, volunteers and the public.
-Liaises with other departmental staff and Donor Services.
-Assists in training programs and orientation of staff.
-Participates in quality control and preventative maintenance activities, as well as other departmental programs, medical and nursing research projects, trials and evaluations, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
You hold current registration with S.R.N.A., combined with a minimum of two years active nursing experience. Previous venepuncture and apheresis experience is an asset. You have the skills to effectively assess donor health status and intervene in adverse and emergency situations and implement a plan of care. You have the ability to effectively provide information and advice to donors. Effective written and oral communication skills, plus strong interpersonal skills are needed. Fluency in both official languages is an asset. You possess the ability to establish priorities and organize the workload, plus train, develop and direct staff. You also have the ability to work under pressure and to meet the emotional demands of the job. Current CPR and First Aid would be an asset.
